Ridgeview Room 16

Had a great time on Friday meeting with fourth graders at Ridgeview Elementary School. What an interesting and enthusiastic group of writers! Ms. Baron has done a great job encouraging and supporting your use of words.  And your questions? Always my favorite part.

I’ve got a question for you. What are you going to write about next? Are you going to create a story (non-faction) or will it be something real (faction), an incident that actually happened or a topic you researched and want to share what you discovered?

Feel free to share your answers. Just write in the Comment box below. Make sure to click the Post Comment box when you’re done. You can also post any questions you have for me. I’d be happy to answer.

Thank you! Our class read these and have fun figuring out who asked what questions..

Thanks for the great letters, fellow writers! I really enjoyed your comments, suggestions, and questions. Here’s the answers to questions you posed:
    1. The dog you saw in the Missouri River photo was named Sombra. She passed away about four years ago. This week I got a new dog – four months old – that was rescued from an LA shelter. His name is Toby.
    2. I have not thought abuot writing about a music teacher who doesn’t kow how to play any instruments. However, it’s a great idea and hope you will write that story!
    3. My order for more Chomp! books was shipped yesterday. I will get them soon.
    4. I may write about the places I’ve been. There have been many fun adventures, like rafting the Nile and exploring the pirates’ hideouts.
    5. The idea of writing about turtles and trees sound interesting. So does the book about a funny cop named Jacob.
    6. Ideas for books come from everywhere: experiences, TV and movies, and from my imagination. I’m working on a book now about a war between the numbers and the letters. Guess who wins?
    7. My next trip is to Alaska, the only state in the US I haven’t visited.
    8. I’d write girl stories, but I don’t have much of a background.
    9. My favorite gum flavor is peppermint. (Shhh! Don’t tell your teacher. She hates gum!)
    10. The wolf perspective book idea is another good one. I liked writing from a dog’s perspective. The wolf idea would not be much of a stretch.
